Hairhan Uranium ISR Project EIA for GSJV Co., Ltd / Denison Mines (DM) and International Uranium INC., 2010

The proposed project site of Hairhan uranium deposit is situated in the territory of Ulziit soum of the Dundgobi province and 420 km to south east of Ulaanbaatar, 180 km to south west of Shiveegobi rail way station. Land surface of the deposit host region is comprised of flat steppe like valleys and mountains with low hills surrounding it.
The Hairhan deposit is belongs to the exploration license area of 1017X. The license was issued in 1998 by Cadastre department of Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia based on 1994 International agreement on exploration tenure issued to Gurvansaikhan JV that created by and between Mongolia, Russia and America. In November 2008 the Gurvan Saikhan Joint Venture has submitted the reserve/resource final report based on exploration during 1996-2007 for its reserve approval to the Ministry of Minerals and Energy.
The GS JV is preparing to transfer into pre mining agreement with Mongolian Government as set in the Minerals law, in order to prepare for it mining development since the exploration is finished and reserve is determined. Therefore, preparation of development work for uranium mining and processing during 2009-2011 has commenced and commercial mining is planned to begin in 2012-2013.
Ecotrade staff and experts completed comprehensive Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for Gurvansaikhan Joint Venture (GSJV) Co.Ltd of Denison Mines and International Uranium Inc., Canada during 2009-2010 and EI Statement has approved in March 2010 by MNET Mongolia.
